The bed frame is built from Salvaged resawn old growth redwood that was locally sourced from the Santa Cruz Mountains. Upon receiving the lumber from the sawyer, it is carefully edge jointed and book matched to create a mirrored image within the frame. Four touch-open soft-close drawers are installed in the base frame so that no hardware or nobs are necessary. A grain-matched recessed cubby is built into the headboard to be used for lighting installation and book storage.
